What is Dogs of Lake Mac?
We are donating 5% of all sales of prints, files, wall art & albums to Helping Hearts Animal Rescue, that supports pets looking for their forever home.
"Dogs of Lake Mac" is an exciting new photography project initiated by Heart Dogs - Photography by Kelly Munce, a renowned specialist in dog photography within the Lake Macquarie area. This project aims to provide pet owners with an extraordinary opportunity to capture stunning, creative portraits of their beloved dogs.
Led by Kelly Munce's expertise, the project focuses on celebrating the individuality, interests, and unique personalities of each dog. Whether your furry friend is known for their quirky antics, stylish attire, or simply their heartwarming presence, Dogs of Lake Mac aims to showcase them in the best light possible.
Moreover, if you wish to involve the entire family in the photography experience and capture some updated family portraits alongside your furry companions, you have the flexibility to do so.
Through Dogs of Lake Mac, pet owners can expect a memorable and enjoyable photography session that not only produces beautiful portraits but also immortalizes the special bond between humans and their canine companions.
Once all the photography sessions for Dogs of Lake Mac have been completed, the team will curate and design a stunning hardcover coffee table book titled "Dogs of Lake Mac." This book will showcase the favorite photograph of each dog alongside entertaining and heartwarming fun facts about them. It will serve as a cherished keepsake for the families involved, capturing memories of their beloved pets in a beautiful and tangible form.
Moreover, the book will also hold significance as an important piece of local history, documenting the lives and personalities of dogs living in Lake Mac during the year 2024. It will be a delightful addition to any coffee table, serving as a reminder of the special bond between pets and their families, as well as a testament to the vibrant canine community within the Lake Mac area.

How does it work?
WHERE
All sessions will take place at a location your dog feels most comfortable at anywhere around Lake Mac, this could be your favourite spot on the lake or beach or even your favourite dog cafe!
what's included
* A photoshoot with Heart Dogs (value $99)
* A double page spread in the Dogs of Lake Mac coffee table book featuring our favourite photo of your dog along with their unique story.
* You will have the opportunity to buy the book once the project is all complete. This book will be designed and published when all the sessions have been completed. (cost $115)
* A personal purchasing or online option to purchase your favourite photos after the shoot with access to exclusive Dogs of Lake Mac packages as well as well as our regular packages.
* The option to include the kids or whole family at no extra cost (value $250)
Participation cost
*$75 per dog (the participation cost is donated directly to Helping Hearts Animal Rescue)
*Additional dogs (from the same family and in the same photo session added to the book) are $25 each
* There is no additional cost to add on family photo session or include other pets in the session who aren’t’ going in the book.
what's not included
The photos taken during your photoshoot are not included in the participation fee. When you see your photos for the first time, you can purchase wall art or desktop prints, albums and digital files.

Don't forget, we will be donating 5% of all sales to a Helping Hearts Animal Rescue. The 5% sales contribution is how we can help raise as much money for this wonderful rescue as possible. Thus, priority will go to applicants who want to invest in purchasing prints, albums or digital files from their session.

Heart dogs photographer
Kelly Munce is a seasoned local photographer with over 20 years of experience in the field. Throughout her career, she has garnered numerous National and International awards, showcasing her talent and dedication to her craft. Kelly is an active member of the Professional Photography Business Network, where she continues to expand her professional network and knowledge base.
In addition to her professional endeavors, Kelly is deeply involved in giving back to her community as a volunteer photographer for Helping Hearts Animal Rescue. Her passion for photography extends to capturing the beauty and essence of animals in need, contributing to their adoption and well-being.
Beyond her career and volunteer work, Kelly finds immense joy in her role as a wife, mother to three daughters and a grandmother to four energetic grandsons. She shares her home with her beloved pets: ‘Marlon’ her 7 yr old English Staffy, ‘Blissie' her 14-year-old calico cat, and a newly rescued ‘Wolf', the baby of the family who has no idea he is a cat!
Prior to her photography career, Kelly worked as a mobile dog groomer, demonstrating her lifelong love and commitment to animals. Her diverse experiences have shaped her into a compassionate and skilled photographer who continues to make a positive impact through her work.
what happens at the photoshoot?
Kelly understands that pets have their own unique personalities and desires. With a profound belief that pets simply want to be themselves, Kelly's photography aims to capture the essence of each furry companion. Dogs, in particular, revel in being true to their nature, and Kelly endeavors to reflect this authenticity in her work.
To ensure that each portrait reflects the individuality of the pet, Kelly initiates the process by sending a questionnaire to pet owners. This questionnaire allows her to gain insights into the pet's character, preferences, and quirks. Armed with this knowledge, Kelly tailors each photo session to suit the specific needs and temperament of the pet.
While props may or may not be incorporated into the photographs, Kelly ensures that each session is custom-designed to highlight the pet's personality and unique qualities. Pet owners are encouraged to bring along their pet's favorite toys or objects to further personalize the session and make the experience enjoyable for the furry model.
Through her dedication to capturing pets in their truest form, Kelly creates timeless portraits that celebrate the individuality and spirit of each animal.
how to prepare for the photoshoot
Grooming: If you prefer your pet to be well-groomed, schedule their grooming appointment at least 7 days before the photoshoot. This allows ample time for any grooming adjustments and ensures that your pet looks their best on the day of the session. However, if you love your pet's scruffy look, a bath the day before the session is sufficient. Remember to clean out any eye discharge and trim their nails if necessary. Ensure that your pet's fur is not obstructing their eyes as much as possible.
Family Inclusion: If you and your family will be joining the photoshoot, Kelly will send you an email with detailed preparation instructions. This email will include tips on how to dress for the session, ensuring that everyone looks coordinated and complements each other in the photographs. Following these guidelines will help create cohesive and visually appealing family portraits.
By following these tips and guidelines, pet owners can ensure that their photography session with Heart Dogsis a memorable and enjoyable experience, resulting in stunning portraits that capture the unique beauty and personality of their beloved pets and family.
Publication Permission: By participating in the Dogs of Lake Mac photography project, you must be willing to give permission for photographs of your pet to be published in print and online. If you do not wish for your pet's image to be published, your spot may be given to another family.
Donations: All proceeds from the participation fee of $75 will be donated to Helping Hearts Animal Rescue. This organization will utilize the funds to support animals in need.
Completion Timeline: The goal is to complete 50+ dog sessions from now until August/September. The publication, featuring the photographs, is expected to be ready before Christmas. However, this timeline may be subject to change based on the completion of all sessions.
Booking Terms and Conditions: Your booking will be subject to terms and conditions and other policies, which you can review during the booking process.
Pet Behaviour: If your dog tends to be active during the session, rest assured that Kelly has strategies to capture great photos. Dogs are often photographed while they run or walk around, and leads are sometimes left on for added security.
Regarding image editing and delivery:
Kelly works diligently to edit the images promptly. Approximately 2-3 weeks after your session, you will receive an email with a link to your online gallery or an invitation to book a viewing session at the studio to preview and purchase prints.
While it's understandable if you only wish to be featured in the book, purchasing prints, products, or digital files is encouraged as this project is a fundraiser for Helping Hearts Animal Rescue. Spots may prioritize individuals interested in acquiring prints, products, or digital files to support the cause.
